Hi All,
I had an alerting rule that included the filter "count >= 2". I then added another count filter of "count < 20". I then saved it and lost all of my filters. Can someone please try to reproduce this? I would guess it's a bug.. It's happened on 2 different systems for me, I'm using Zenoss 3.2.1 on Scientific Linux 6.1.

Regards,
Joan

Hi Joan,
Could you just check that the filters really have gone and not just that the GUI is messed up in that area (which I think I have seen in the past).

You can use the Zope Management Interface (ZMI) to inspect the object database.  Point your browser at http:// http://<your zenoss>:8080/zport/dmd/manage . You can navigate to zenusers in the left-hand menu.  Alerting rules should show indented as contained objects under a user.  There's just a chance that you will see them there.  If they are NOT there, then they really have gone.

Cheers,
Jane

Hi Jane,
Thanks for that. The alerting rule objects were still there, but they just show as a single object per rule, no filters are visible. Is this normal to not see the individual filters in the "manage" mode? See screenshot.

Possibly related, possibly not, I had the issue with "count" happen on Sunday night. I was repairing the filters yesterday, and Zenoss will now not send any alerts.. this is supposed to be the week it goes fully live and we turn off the old nagios and sitescope machines..  *sigh*..

Aha, I fixed my "no alerts being sent" issue. I had applied a transform days ago, but had only restarted Zenoss yesterday. This transform had killed the zenactions daemon, hence no emails being sent.

Back to the "count" issue - has anyone else been able to reproduce this?

Regards,
Joan
