Hi,

I have had a search through the forum as would like to be able to modify which OID Zenoss uses for certain device for the serial number field on the device detail page. All the forum posts I have found have pointed me to modifying a ZenPack that already exists but I was wondering if there was an easier method as am very much a noob :)

If its just a single device can you just manually edit the value on the device overview page? That is likely the path of least resistence.

If you have alot of these devices, than I think your looking at a zenpack customization

Peter,

If dpetzel's initial solution doesn't work for you, you'll want to look at creating a custom modeler.  The details for this are in the Developer's Guide.  Here's the link for the 3.0 version:

It's been a while since I've had to do this, but I had a similar issue to yours (Adtran router serials, iirc), and it was a pretty straightforward process.
