Hello,

I am fairly new to Zenoss. We have been using it since the Spring of this year. What I want to know is, can Zenoss be used as a KNowledge Management site. What I mean by this is when we close an event, we write a description in the log of how we resolved the message, or if the message is not an issue we put why in the log field. Is there a way to create a report that includes message, the eventclass key and the log so that in the future, when an event comes up, we can run a report and search on the eventclass key and see how we resolved thi sin the past? I am trying to make it a one step process for knowledge management and not have to setup a second site and manually add resolved tickets to it, unless there is a free tool that Zenoss can send completed tickets to.

Let me know what you think and i thank you in advance for whatever help you can give me.

Thanks,

its  depends  on your approach  if  you want to  track the  knowledgebase  but all depends  how much data againg  you can retain  . i would suggest to use  media  wiki or RT  or MantisBT open source ticketing system and tie it with simple api of  zenoss  or event  transform for  ticket   creation and then you can track from it  .

I would like to thank the people who participated in this post. Through researching another feature, I have learned that Zenoss only keeps data, by default, for 90 days. To keep more data would become too cumbersome for MYSQL. I am going to follow diurection given in this post and another post, to look for a secondary program to store my data for events that have been resolved to build a Knowledge Management DB.

Thank you again for your help.
