Hi,
I wanted to use short hostnames for legends in my multi-graph reports, so I delved into a few things, and found that I could accomplish it by
applying portions of http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/changeset/7837 http://dev.zenoss.org/trac/changeset/7837 to Products/ZenUtils/ZenTales.py.
So then, expressions such as 'python:here.id.split(".")[0]' works to give you the short hostname.
Question is, how do I go about getting this functionality into the codebase? I suspect it would be useful, but I also suspect my implementation is naive.
