I am running Zenoss Core 4.2.4 installed fresh from the the auto-deploy script on CentOS 6 x64. I attempted to run a zenup following the wonderful directions at http://wiki.zenoss.org/ZenUp http://wiki.zenoss.org/ZenUp (thanks Jayne!) and I'm getting the following error event in the webui after.

I tried SP163 and SP 154.

It shows up as the same event, the message changes slightly, and the count goes up. Any ideas?

Same error here. It has caused my events to stop functioning completel. It appears they added some variables to the files in Products/ZenEvents/events2:

| fields.py: | FLAPPING_INTERVAL = 'flapping_interval_seconds' |
| fields.py: | FLAPPING_THRESHOLD = 'flapping_threshold' |
| fields.py: | FLAPPING_SEVERITY = 'flapping_severity' |

I see where you can enable event flapping detection in "Advanced/Settings/Events" but it doesn't seem to save and not sure where we adjust the flapping interval.

I am still trying to track this down but I am in no means a python person.

Looks like a ticket has been opened for this. Please add your report to it as the more people that is affected the more chance of it getting corrected faster.

same problem here. As i'd love to see flapping control, i installed the updates after taking a snapshot of my VMWare-Image. Gonna collect some report-stuff for the ticket too.

The root issue is that SPs are not cumulative. Flapping properties are added to Zenoss in SP71 and both SP154 and SP163 assume that they already persist in Zenoss. I decided to revert back to original RPM. In case someone want to do this please follow the steps:

1. Download RPM from http://sourceforge.net/projects/zenoss/files/zenoss-4.2/zenoss-4.2.4/4.2.4-1897/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/zenoss/files/zenoss-4.2/zenoss-4.2.4/4.2.4-1897/
2. Stop Zenoss
3. Backup /opt/zenoss somewhere
4. reinstall rpm using rpm -ivh --force --noscripts zenoss_core-4.2.4-1897.el6.x86_64.rpm (make shure you put --noscripts !!! ) from root
5. copy /opt/zenoss/etc/hubpasswd from backup you created on step 3
6. start zenoss (zenoss start as zenoss user). It will reindex all zenpacks.
7. stop zenprocess (or get flooded with false events)
8. wait for complete remodeling (check /opt/zenoss/log/zenmodeler.log)
9. start zenprocess

Voila :)

argh! Does that mean, i'll need to download every ZUP (71, 154, 163) and install them after each other? This wouldn't be the point, but i'm quite unsure if i also need to download and install the matching pristine packages every time. :\

Does this mean you reverted to a pristine install or did you install SP71 and the rest of the ZUPs?

Alternatively, do you know if I were to take the files from zenoss_core-4.2.4.el6-pristine.tgz and replace the the code in $ZENHOME, could I then run the updates through zenup without having to start all over?

Matt: they're all found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/zenoss/files/zenoss-4.2/zenoss-4.2.4/updates/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/zenoss/files/zenoss-4.2/zenoss-4.2.4/updates/
After i installed the SPs one after another, flapping detection seems to work just fine.
