Hi all,

I want to know how long the zenoss daemon collect datas. Can the zenoss daemon collect datas per second?

Thanks in advance :) .

It depends - 60 seconds are used for some datasources , 500 seconds for others. Generally perf is every 5 minutes. Check out the cycle times in your Zenoss instance configuration for your collector for specifics.

Zenoss cannot do real time per second monitoring. It is recommended to use it for every 5 minute data snapshot captures, though given enough hardware you can shorten that a bit, some people do successfully get every 60 seconds cycles - but it's not easy and depends on many factors.

Thank you for your reply.
You mean that the Zenoss can't do real time per second minitoring. But what is the role of ADVANCED-Collector-localhost-SNMP Performance Cycle Interval? If I set it 1 sec, what will happen? And what is the role of others? I can't find any datas about them.

Bad things happen - you'll wrap your SNMP Cycle time and things will break. Also, your graphs won't show the differece without recreating the RRD files with new default graph commands that you'll have to create.

I set the MySQL Monitoring Template Circle Time 1 sec. And I set the step of the file mysql_Bytes_received.rrd 1sec. So I have some pictures about it. Loading Image... Loading Image...
The data is per second. What is wrong?

I'm not sure I understand your last question. The issue isn't with one host, it's what happens when you try and do that to 100 hosts, the checks cannot complete within 1 second, so you end up with gaps in your graphs (your example graph is badly scaled, so I can't tell if  you've got some gaps just from the one host there or not) as well as filling up your queue for datapoints, and then you start dropping data more...

Thanks a lot.
Now, I know why you say the Zenoss can't do real time per second monitoring. If I monitor devices to 100 hosts, the checks can't complete within 1 second. And my example is only one device.

Thanks again!!
