Pretty sure I'm hardly the only one requesting this. Why are the only docs for Core avaiable as nasty PDF or EPUB files?  Or are they published as proper HTML docs somewhere non-obvious?

You're far from the only one.  Zenoss has recently (as in last week) hired 2 new docwriters.  They're just now getting up to speed.  Expect good things before the end of the year as they get the documentation situation in order.
