hi,
In zenoss 2.5 I have created a user with ZenUser Role.
Then, in Administered Object I have define a device class with Manager role.

Now under that device class, the user can create Template -> Data Source, but not insert oid....

Why this behaviour?

Administered Object is used only for alerting - it doens't do any sort of permission granting.

My point is that by design, Core is not supposed to do granular access permissions - there are many things that don't work / have not been tested. So the reason you're having the issue is your using an "easter egg" feature and you've hit a different set of permissions that apply to adding OIDs...

I.e. it's amazing that what you did worked at all, and no one really knows what needs to be edited to make other stuff work with just Core. Jane Curry has been working on a User Roles zenpack, but that is on hold until Core 4 is released so that it will work with Core 4.
