Hello, please help to clarify several moments of migration.
I would like to migrate from my old zenoss version (3.0.2) to the new one (4.2). I have installed at new server CentOS 6.3 (2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.x86_64) and it seems to work OK. I faced a problem, because old version stores data at Data.fs file (as far as I know), but at new instalation I did not find such file. The idea was to make a backup file (e.g. zenbackup --save-mysql-access --temp-dir=./tmp --file=Zenoss.Backup.tar.gz), copy to the new server and then make 'zenrestore'. Maybe there is another way of migration (more apropriate)?  Please advise.
Thank you in advance.

I am aware that Data.fs was deprecated, thanks  to Jane_Curry (from v4 zenoss uses zodb and zodb_zession databases in MySQL). So, in order to migrate, I am thinking about the following:
backup the 'Data.fs'  and then move  it to new device (zenoss version should be the same - 3.0.2). Restore the data and then, make an upgrade (e.g. rpm -Uvh {zenoss4.Xcore}.rpm). Like was described it:
http://community.zenoss.org/docs/DOC-13022 http://community.zenoss.org/docs/DOC-13022
Does it sound reasonable? Any ideas are appreciated.

Aleksandr,

I sent you here so that I could track down the documentation, there was already a wiki article, but it was misfiled.  I have moved the article to the User's Guide, and it can be found here: http://wiki.zenoss.org/Upgrading_Zenoss http://wiki.zenoss.org/Upgrading_Zenoss

Maybe someone could give me an advise.
I would like to make backup, for example:
zenbackup --save-mysql-access --temp-dir=/var/tmp --file=Zenoss.Backup.11.2013.tar.gz
But without zenpacks included.  Is there such a way?
Thank you in advance.

I'm not sure if zenbackup includes the zenpacks, but the data backed up will require the same zenpacks to restore successfully, so it really doesn't matter...

Please advice, is there a need to migrate to the '3.2.1' version of zenoss? Or I can upgrade zenoss from 3.0.2 to 4.x directly?
Thank you in advance.

Aleksandr:

The instructions I supplied require 3.2.1.  This is based on our internal testing.  I strongly suggest upgrading to 3.2.1 first.

Alek:

Upgrading to v3 first is a requirement when moving from v2.5.x.

Best,

I have the following warnings when using 'python $ZENHOME/Products/ZenUtils/zencatalog.py --createcatalog --forceindex':
/opt/zenoss/lib/python/Products/CMFCore/DirectoryView.py:489: UserWarning: DirectoryView DnsMonitor refers to a non-existing path 'ZenPacks.zenoss.DnsMonitor:/usr/local/zenoss/ZenPacks/ZenPacks.zenoss.DnsMonitor-2.0.1-py2.4.egg/ZenPacks/zenoss/DnsMonitor/skins/DnsMonitor'
  (self.id, reg_key), UserWarning)
/opt/zenoss/lib/python/Products/CMFCore/DirectoryView.py:489: UserWarning: DirectoryView ZenPacks.DavidNalley.VMwareESXi refers to a non-existing path 'ZenPacks.dnalley.VMwareESXi:/usr/local/zenoss/ZenPacks/ZenPacks.dnalley.VMwareESXi-1.0-py2.4.egg/ZenPacks/dnalley/VMwareESXi/skins/ZenPacks.DavidNalley.VMwareESXi'
  (self.id, reg_key), UserWarning)
etc.

Looks like it is related to change of path (from '/usr/local/zenoss' to '/opt/zenoss'). Is there a way to change this? Maybe via 'zendmd'.

Alek:

Check in your ZenPacks directory. If you have packs installed that contain 'py2.4', be sure to update them to the py2.7 version. I'm thinking this is the issue.
