"ping test?"

So I realize that I can use simple ping tests for hosts that are in the Ping Device class but I'm looking for something a little more robust.  I found "fping" and "nagios check ping" but they both seem a little outdated since i'm on version 4.  Any tips?

There is ZenPack checkping.

You have to install the nagios plugins, and the zenpack..

also you have to apply this pull requests (on the same link you can find the checkping zenpack too)

You don't need fping in 4 since there's a PING datasource that you can use on devices that comes from zenping.. it provides response time (min, avg, max in milliseconds), packet loss (in percent), and standard deviation (in percent)

Hi James,

I still use fping in 4.2, I can't seem to find the datasource for the zenping. Not quite sure what I'm doing wrong.

When you create a new datasource, instead of SNMP or COMMAND when you chose the type of your  datasource just scroll down and pick PING. Zenoss wil fill it out for you with datapoints information, you only have to create thresholds and graphs using the defined datapoints. Worked like a charm for me after struggling with Nagios check_ping issue mentioned by july_lesev in his post.
