I'm trying to update an instance of 4.2.0 on CentOS 6.3 to 4.2.3. However, it seems there is an issue updating the zeonss_zep database:

Zenoss upgraded.  Running data migration scripts...
Upgrade pre step
Checking RRDtool version >= 1.4.7: [ OK ] 1.4.7
adding default () for 'zodb-admin-password' in /opt/zenoss/etc/global.conf
adding default () for 'zep-admin-password' in /opt/zenoss/etc/global.conf
ERROR 1146 (42S02) at line 23 in file: '/opt/zenoss/share/zeneventserver/sql/mysql/005.sql': Table 'zenoss_zep.event_summary' doesn't exist
Creating database: zenoss_zep
Applying schema version: 5
Failed to create ZEP database

I couldn't find anything relevant in Jira. Just something about a customized database name, which is not the case here.

Any ideas?

Apparently, the upgrade generate a default /opt/zenoss/etc/global.conf file that with empty password for ***@localhost access to the database and if you have password associated with this Mysql account, it failed to access the database.  Manually update this file with correct for admin users.
