I am using Zenoss 4.2.4.  I just want to evaluate this tool, so on my Ubuntu 12.04,
I installed the virtualbox, with Ubuntu 12.04.  I then install the Zenoss 4.2.4.
When I tried to monitor the host system, the CPU IDLC shows 778.5%.
Am I doing something wrong?  Please see the attached screenshot..

Just for good measure, re-model the device and wait about 15 minutes to see
if it starts reporting properly.

Are you monitoring the Zenoss server itself, another VM, or a physical box?

Here is the topology...
Physical machine A - X86 HW with Ubuntu
Machine A has Virtualbox installed.
The virtualbox has a Virtual Machine B (Ubuntu also), and has the Zenoss 4.2.4 installed.

The Zenoss montiors the virtual machine B and physical machine A.
The problematic graph is for the physical machine A.

How many cpus do you have on your zenoss server?

The template Device (/Server/Linux) uses the SNMP MIB OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.11.0 to get ssCpuIdle. Try testing a raw SNMP command to see what values you get.  My test for the device zen42.class.example.org, using SNMP v2 with a community of public, would be:


snmpwalk -v 2c -c public zen42.class.example.org 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.11.0

Here is the output from your suggestion:
***@t1-VirtualBox:~$ snmpwalk -v 2c -c public 192.168.254.132 1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.11.11.0
UCD-SNMP-MIB::ssCpuIdle.0 = INTEGER: 92

However, the graph still shows 733.4% now.
