Hi!

Please help! I want to do exactly the same and getting similar error "Device %s already exist" where %s  is an IP of my host.

Here's what I've tried:
1. Edited ZENHOME/Products/ZenMode/Device.py file
2. Compiled file into .PYC
3. Restarted Zenoss - /etc/init.d/zenoss-stack restart
4. Still getting the same error even if completely commenting method which should bring up this error. Zenoss just works without any changes no matter what I put in Device.py. Path is 100% ok. I'm sure that I am editing correct file.

Any ideas? Could you describe in details what you've done? Maybe this would help me. Thanks!

Chitra,i have little opinion on this issue..can you please remove the device which is decommissiond right now and then try to Re-ip the device now..zenoss only accept only one IP for a device..in you above case two ip with the same device name doesn't make any sense to me..

Vivy,
I want to have history of hosts as a list of decommissioned devices. In my case it is not possible to assign unique IP  to every new host (too many of them). That's why I wanna enable duplicate IPs since only one is in Production state and all duplicates are in Decommissioned state. This way I will be able to use Zenoss as a single source of information about my hosts including history information. I suppose that's what chitra was trying share.

Why not simply change the IP address of the server prior do decommissioning to a tomstoned range (like 1.1.1.1), mark its previous IP address into the comments field and free up the IP address since you need it so badly.

Some of you may claim yourself as a true fan of American football, with more than one team to adore, and this is natural. You probably dream of buying an NFL jersey  so that you can support your favorite teams. However, these jerseys are not affordable and can run hundreds of dollars for the official licensed version. Now looking at  your options, you are sure that there are no other alternatives; you'll have to dish out couple of hundred dollars to purchase an NFL jersey. However, you probably didn't Customized Nike NFL Jerseys know that you as an end consumer can purchase wholesale NFL jerseys from china.

The advancement of internet and globalization seems to bring some problem for for many retailers to make great profits on their NFL jerseys business. With this technology, what one need to do is simply to do browsing and searching many online jerseys offered by many online stores with much lower price than the price offered by the similar jerseys on the retail stores. In reality, retailers don't want you to know where they purchase their jerseys from, you can find these wholesalers yourself on the internet, and purchase them at the same price as retailers. You'll be surprised at how cheap they are available on the market.

The question so far is how to start searching the sources of online jerseys. China is well                              known as a country producing and providing jerseys in a huge scale, and for starter you can find many Chinese companies that offer their merchandises online. This, indeed, is what the retailers do not want to tell you.

Some of you may still have a doubt about the quality of the Chinese made jerseys,  but you can try buying by yourself and prepare to be flabbergasted with the quality. These jerseys do not only make you look great, but as this is the Super Bowl season, you and your friends can join the crowd of the fans supporting your favorite team playing in the games. Just imagine how amazing it is if you can join the euphoria when your favorite team win the Super Bowl. You get thumbs up from Women Reebok NFL Jerseys people in the bar, and some winks from the hotties in the bar. Now you can order an extra round of beers for your friends and a few hotties, imagine if you had purchased the more expensive version of          the jersey, you wouldn't have the money left to spend on beers. Now not only have you saved money, but you are more than likely to go home with a hottie, thanks to your wholesale NFL jerseys from china. Even if you choose not to spend your money celebrating the moment with your friends, at least you Women Nike NFL Jerseys can save a lot of money for other needs.

In today's crippling economy, it's always a wiser choice to purchase alternative and cheaper products, which can make us happier. Yet, you should also try to make yourself happy with all the situation. Different person will need different thing to make his or herself happy, and if you are a true fan of NFL, jerseys are those things that make you keep gaoanyuyue happy.

Nilie,
Few days ago I was able to do the way you described with 2 hosts. But now I'm proceeding with the same scenario, changing ip from 10.1.0.67 to 0.0.0.67 and when adding new device getting the same error "Device 10.1.0.67 already exist". :(

Only deleting old host and adding it again with another IP helped.. But it's not very convenient.

Try deleting any component on the decomissioned device which is related to the old IP that you want to re-use  (like IP Services and Interfaces) and push changes to the Collector.
Then you should be able to re-assign the IP.

This worked for me.
