"4.2 source rpm availability?"

--------------------------------------------------------------
Hey All --

I'm trying to do a proof of concept installation, but I won't have the ability to have the home directory in /home/zenoss, so I'm trying to relocate it to /usr/local/home/zenoss. I was trying to find the source RPM (RHEL 6.3 install) but couldn't find it. I pulled the zen0ss-4.2.0 tag from subversion, but that version suggests 2.0.2, so I assume that's out of date? As I understand from previous forum posts on the subject, I need to modify the spec as such:

%define os_home /usr/local/home/zenoss

Is this still true? can I get the 4.2 source rpm? if so, from where?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

shawn

The SRPM is not yet available. Try using the auto deploy script here http://wiki.zenoss.org/Install_Zenoss http://wiki.zenoss.org/Install_Zenoss

Hi Shane, thanks for the response, but how does that solve my issue of relocating the home directory of the Zenoss user?

You'll be able to get a copy of v4.2 running using the deploy script. For the zenoss home all you'll need to do is assign the zenoss user to the new home directory and copy over the modified .bashrc and .bash_profile. You might need to update a few individual refrences to /home/zenoss in the $ZENHOME/bin directory, however, I don't think there are many.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks again Shane.. I'll give it a shot but I have a feeling the rpm will fail because it won't be able to write to /home.. it's autofs and not root writeable. With a shot though!

I have the same issue - the RPM will not install without /home being root-writable. The auto-deploy script does work for all the dependencies, then fails when trying to install the zenoss rpm. The only way this will work is if I turn off autofs, which is not an option in my NIS/NFS environment. Sure wish I could find a source RPM.

Hello, Shane.

I have a different problem: I have several custom patches (bug fixes and custom enhancements, which are useless to public). Applying them on a live system is really boring.
Currently I repack your rpm using rewritten spec from svn and files from rpm2cpio. But resulting rpm lacks some requirements.
I'd like to have a better spec file. But the best solution would be to have a "mock-buildable" source rpm.

Is there any estimation about Centos5 or Centos6 source rpm availability? Any "beta" version would be better than current spec file.

Anytime. I did get some more information. v4.2.4 may have srpm availability, but v4.2.5 is most likely.
