By mistake i changed "zenoss" user password. It does not seem to have any impact but i have not yet restarted zenoss.

My questions:

1. will zenoss password change effect my system when i restart zenoss
2. if yes, what is default password for user "zenoss" so i set it back

UPDATE:  Restarted zenoss (full OS reboot) and as far as i can tell everyting still works well so I guess "zenoss" user password change has no effect.

This is good because I would hate to leave a sever which has access to all my other devices with default password; especially since with use of zendmd you can get list of all stored passwords in clear text!!!

Hi,  there is no password unless you set one.  Please check /etc/shadow as root, you should see !! in the password field.  su to zenoss from root or set the password directly as root.

Chrisomar,

Try restarting Zenoss and make sure that all the daemons are running, also wouldn't hurt to disable the sever's firewall for a few minutes to verify that it's not blocking something....
