Hi All,

I hope you can help!.  I have recently completed my install of Zenoss 4.2 (plus SP1) on Centos 6.3 using the auto install script and have started adding monitoring for basic devices and network equipment.  Everything seems to work well.  Most of our network devices are Windows based boxes monitoring over WMI - We have not let Zenoss undertake a mass device discovery instead choosing to add our devices one at a time.  The issues I am currently suffering are as follows :-

* I am unable to get the Network Map (not the google one) to display - every time I select it I just get a grey bar across the centre of the screen - So far I have added my devices and nested them in locations and changed the users "Network Map Start Object" to the core router and back and nothing seems to work - Any advise would be great..  - I have installed the latest flash and tried IE and Firefox :( so I am confident it must be something else i'm missing?
* When I built the Server I stupidly didn't amend/missed the system time and now the Zenoss box is 1hour ahead..  Please can you advise on the best way to fix this issue..  I tried stopping the services and amending the time but that seems to kill Zenoss and I get a load of errors when I try to log back in - As such I restored the time and the service came back as normal but with the wrong time.

I have long been singing the joy's of Zenoss to my co-workers and now they are beginning to see the benefits it provides but I am a little rusty having not used it for a couple of years.  I have searched the forums and web for answers to the above but sadly I am not getting anywhere fast.

Hello again all,

Please can someone give me some troubleshooting tips on the above?  I am happy to puzzle my way through things I am just struggling for a place to start.  The network map issue while not a big issue it is really annoying - Could I be missing something in the config?  I can see the flash window appears to start but then it just sits at the grey bar.

As for the time being out on the box as advise would be well received,  It was a silly mistake during the build but it's something I need to resolve even if the only option is a full rebuild and restore.

What version of Adobe Flash are you running? It wouldn't hurt to make sure that it's updated!

In case your environment allows you to do it, shutdown Zenoss for more than an hour. Then configure time synchronization with ntpd and when the time on your server is correct, start Zenoss again. Hopefully Zenoss will wake up being a little bit behind the actual time and try to catch with it.
Please note that this method is not quite gentle for your Zenoss installation so make sure you have a good backup and be prepared for the worse.
As for Network Map, I'm afraid I can't be of any help for you.

Thanks for your replies - I have now tested the network map with IE7, Firefox and Chrome with the latest flash and sadly I still get nothing but the grey bar in the middle of the screen.  What is strange is reading a lot of the other posts and what I can remember from the last time I installed Zenoss there should be some controls that let me expand the amount of hops etc - I am not even getting these controls, I get nothing but a brief flash where it draws the centre panel then just the grey box...  I'm starting to think it must be something on the Centos/Zenoss box itself..   Can anyone offer idea's on how to troubleshoot it?  what services and libs the Centos install requires etc?

As for the time issue, I have backed up the Zenoss config and scp'd the file off the box, then I have stopped Zenoss and Mysql and stopped them from restarting..  Then I adjusted the system time and rebooted - Now I just have my fingers crossed and will start everything back up in about 30mins.....  Wish me luck!

Hi All,

OK one issue down!  the incorrect System time is Fixed...

Here is the process I followed :-

* Backup Zenoss and copy the backup file to another system before making any changes.
* Shutdown zenoss
* Shutdown mysq
* Stop Zenoss and Mysql starting at bootup
* Change the system time back 1hr
* Reboot with init 6
* Wait 1H 15M
* ssh onto the box and manually start mysql
* manually start Zenoss
* Confirm everything is working ..... And it was !!!!
* Reset mysql and Zenoss to start on boot

All done...

Now I just need to get the network map fixed...

Did you confirm that you can't view the network map from another computer?
You might also trying turning off the firewall in CentOS just to make sure
that's not it!

Hi hydruid,

Firewall is totally disabled so is SELINUX, makes no difference for me :(   Still just get the grey bar.  I now have a set of test servers monitoring well but this network map issue is stil annoying.
