Hi everyone,

I manage a quite wide network with Zenoss. It happens that some of the devices supose to be down, and they show the event Status/ping as IP down.
What is quite strange is that the device is actually up! It responds to SNMP petitions, and I can log in remotelly...
I removed the device and add it again, and also checked the SNMP agent configuration... it seems a problem with the zenping, but it does not happen with all the devices, just a few...
Does anyone know what might be happening?

Zenoss sends null payload pings for Status Ping. Many firewalls seem to block this if they do DPI so there is an open bug on this and should be fixed in 4.3 or possibly backported to 4.2.x...

A patch against the 4.2.3 release is available in this JIRA issue: http://jira.zenoss.com/jira/browse/ZEN-5104 http://jira.zenoss.com/jira/browse/ZEN-5104. Follow the instructions in the JIRA issue to apply the patch and set the data-length option.

This fix will be available in the next maintenance release of Zenoss.
