Hi,

I am a complete newbie in Zenoss.

I just wanted to ask if SNMP should be present and installed in server and client or every devices I added in Zenoss?

SNMP agents should be installed and configured on any server or client you want to monitor using SNMP. Luckily, pretty much every modern OS has an SNMP agent installed or an offical agent you can install. Configuration is covered on many websites if you google for them, and the Admin guide gives information (as does a search of these forums) of some basic configurations that should work with Zenoss.

Only if you want to monitor those device using snmp. Same goes for your Zenoss server, if you don't want to monitor it via snmp then you dont have to install it. There are several possible ways to monitor devices in Zenoss and I strongly suggest you to read the administration manual in oder to get aquainted with them, then you will pick the one that suits you.

Hi,

Thank you for your informative answers.

Last question (it might you've answer this already on your previous answer), if I will add new device(Windows O.S) to monitor in zenoss(installed in RHEL). And if I am using SNMP agent, do I still need to configure the SNMP of the client for the new device?

Are you using SNMP to monitor the device? If so, then yes, you do need to configure the agent on the device.
