"os/interfaces/eth0/ifOutOctets_ifOutOctets" as the datapoint worked for me.
The RRD is in /opt/zenoss/perf/Devices/iweapp-prod1-01/os/interfaces/eth0/ifOutOctets_ifOutOctets.rrd so it looks like it takes the path after the device name. Anyone know what the algorithm is for determining datapoint paths? It seems like it tries more than one path or has a fall back.
