i'm trying to run the python script that ryan gave in the first page of the post:

it has been run as a zenoss user in the root...

but i can get no result out of it. it is running like now for more than 2 hours and no output..

Also the events is going up... when i ran the script it was 33000 events and now it is 33900.. so it isnt deleting any event.

You might want to try tweaking the event aging parameters if you're using v4.2.

getEventDetailFromStatusOrHistory is no longer a valid function in Zenoss 4.2.  I'm working on converting a daemon that I wrote which makes heavy use of the events API.  I'll be publishing what I find on wiki when I'm done so that everyone has a proper reference.
