--------------------------------------------------------------
Hye guys and girls,

I'm new to Zenoss, but not to linux but I am by no means an expert just a good googler! I have setup Zenoss 3.0 on my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS server and for some reason when ever I go to the Zenoss server (in my case http://10.0.2.100:8080/ http://10.0.2.100:8080) It continues to take me to the Zenoss setup. Now when I first set this up on my Windows test machine and then again on ubuntu server I could not actually complete the Zenoss setup. Upon filling out the "Set up Users" section the submit button would not do anything on both my Windows and then my linux install.

I tested in in IE9 (with and without compatibility), Chrome and Firefox. Anyhow I got round this problem by browsing to that IP again from the same session and logged in as the admin and continued setting the admin password, scans and users etc fine but now everytime I go to my Zenoss for the first time it keeps taking me to the setup page. Any ideas why and what I can do to stop this?

Thanks

Jason

I'd start out with testing on 3.2.1 and see if you have the same problem.

OK I have upgraded to 3.2.1 but still get the same issue. The login screen seems to be in a continued refresh, everytime you go to it and click the username field it unselects it and the loading progress at the top of every browser keeps resetting. Is Zenoss open source or closed source as I can not seem to find the files that correspond to the login page to even begin troubleshooting.

Zenoss Core is open source, but the web stuff is run on top of Zope, so probably isn't like you'd expect. I've personally never seen this, but will try and get someone to help you out.

Jason King:

That's a very strange problem.

On the zenoss master, `su zenoss`, `zendmd` and `dmd._rq = True` {ENTER} then `commit()` {ENTER}

CTRL + D to escape dmd. Check the webUI and see if the problem persists.

Thanks!

Best,

Hey Shane,

Not entirely sure what that was meant to do, what is dmd._rq? Anyhow it didn't make a difference, I rebooted after checking to be sure and it still didn't make any difference. Thanks for the help so far.

Jason:

dmd._rq is a hidden variable that controls of the first login wizard is shown. Below, don't type and of the backticks ( ' ).

On the zenoss master, `su zenoss`, `zendmd`

Type in `dmd._rq' and press {ENTER}

On a system where the wizard has been completed, True should be returned. Else it will be False or None.

If anything other than True is returned you can set it by typing `dmd._rq = True`, press {ENTER}, type `commit()` and press {ENTER}. You can then CRTL + D to escape. A restart is not required to test if it worked.

Let me know if this works. If it doesn't something really strange is happening.

Best,
