I have had a Zenoss blow up on me once and figured out I needed to run ZeoPack once a week to keep the database from growing out of control, this was in 3.1

Is the same process still necessary under 4.2x?

In 4.2.x, there is a utility script called 'zenossdbpack' which performs the equivalent of 'zeopack' in previous releases. This is recommended to run from cron - if installed from the official RPMs it will automatically run every week from /etc/cron.weekly/zenoss.
