I am having this *exact* problem - installing Zenoss on a fresh CentOS 6.3 box using the auto-deploy script.

It is probably because you already have java-openjdk installed. I will look into addressing this in the auto-deploy script.

I've made a commit to the auto-deploy script which should help:

https://github.com/zenoss/core-autodeploy/commit/8b2a124dbe2a30297d617f972294d5e10fa4a4fb https://github.com/zenoss/core-autodeploy/commit/8b2a124dbe2a30297d617f972294d5e10fa4a4fb

Grab it again and see if this fixes it.

So instead of downloading the autodeployscript again and run it again, we could remove java and all things will be resolved?

I'm sure everyones interrested in the solution for the current problem and not the problem with autodeploy script in this scenario.

If it can't find the JRE, then yes, ensure that java-openjdk is removed and that the Oracle JRE is installed. This should allow Zenoss to start.

So, how do we perform an uninstall with the autodeployscript to get zenoss it reinstalled?

I have just tryed to install this and got the same JRE error.

only version of java installed is Oracle. yet the script still fails to work?
which script is checking and reporting the abort, so we can hack it fixed!  this is annoying as I know for a fact the version of the machine is oracle.

install is on centos6.3 using the core-autodeploy.sh ( tryed three times, same error when service zenoss start)

Which steps in them URLS solved the probelm as reading all that info seems a little bit of overkill, when we just want to know why the JRE version isnt being picked up properly by zenoss on startup

service zenoss start
FAILS " Please confirm that the JRE in the PATH is Oracle's version." :(

Which version of JAVA does zenoss need to work.  32bit or 64bit?  running on Centos6.3 64bit.  As this error happens when you only have 64bit installed.
