Hi all,

I'm newbie with zenoss core 4.2.4 monitor. I want zenoss automatic send email alerts to me when my device have been down or error message. How do I config this work on zenoss core 4.2.4 admin web interface ?

Thanks for your help!

I'd like to ask you one question about Trigger & Notifications:

I have to monitor many device on my network (switch, router, linux server, windows server, etc...). I want zenoss server email me when my device have issue such as interface down, services down, harddisk full, hardware issue (HDD, RAID, IO, etc... via syslog event (using zenoss as central syslog server))...

I had read "Zenoss Core Administration guide 4.2.4", but that book didn't say more detail about trigger & Notifications (meaning of rule option item).

I need some example about trigger & notification configuration for devices. I had made asearch on internet (google etc), but I couldn't find true configuration for that.

Please, help me some example trigger & notification, or show me where to read that information if you have.

Go to Events>Triggers

Click the "+" button
Enter the name of the trigger ("NewTrigger")
In the rule select "Summary" "Contains"
Save the trigger

Go to notifications
Click the "+" button
Enter the name of the notification
Double click the new notification
Check "Enabled"
Select the "NewTrigger"
Click the "Add" button
Select subscribers

You may test with a command notification also if you're not sure the mail works correctly: in the content window command field, enter "/bin/touch /tmp/test" for example

contains = the string to match for if you get a syslog message.

for example, If you want an alert triggered when the syslog message contains "test" , enter "test" in that field.
