Hey all

I have some switches that have Interfaces with operation status "Not Present".
I wonder why Zenoss reports them? Because they are not there ...
Is there a way to make sure only  real switch ports are reported back...

The switch it self is a Allied Telesys AT8000 model.

When modeling the device, Zenoss is asking for the interface list via an SNMP request and displays whatever the switch declares. In my opinion, Are all the ports being marked as not present ? Also could you please try do do a snmpwalk for IfType OID (.1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.3) and post the results here ?

Not all ports are marked as not present.

A 24 port switch repors back having 50 ports ... Strange ......
Is there a way to hide them?

It is not strange (at least to me), the switch (actually the SNMP agent on the switch) counts as interfaces not only physical ethernet ports with outside connections but also VLANS, aggregate ports (Etherchannels in Cisco language), null interface if it exists, stack connections, backplane connections etc. There is no way to tell the switch to hide these, all you can do is to tell Zenoss to ignore and not monitor them. Actually you could try to hack zenmodeler and put some exceptions for this type of scenario but I personally believe it is too much trouble, excluding those interfaces from monitoring would give you the same result with less headache.

Not quite enough output in the screen shot for me to be sure, but is there perhaps a value that could be dropped into "zInterfaceMapIgnoreTypes" to eliminate the unknown ones?
