Hi,
i have this error when i want to install zenoss core 4.2 , i have found a discussion on this subject and i've already installed MySQL-shared-compat-5.5.28-1.

I have this problem when i do
# yum -y --enablerepo=epel --nogpgcheck localinstall zenoss-4.2.0.el6.x86_64.rpm :

Error: Package: zenoss-4.2.0-1586.el6.x86_64 (/zenoss-4.2.0.el6.x86_64)
           Requires: libmysqlclient.so.18()(64bit)
You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
** Found 1 pre-existing rpmdb problem(s), 'yum check' output follows:
akonadi-1.2.1-2.el6.x86_64 has missing requires of qt4-mysql

Somebody have a solution please ?

I have tried it and reboot the server (because error still be here after restarting service mysql) but i have the same error :(

Did you:
install the MySQL-shared libs?

Could you either remove akonadi
or install qt4-mysql ?

yes i've installed those :
* MySQL Client Utilities (Mysql-client-5.5.28-1.el6 .x86_64.rpm)
* MySQL Server (MySQL-server-5.5.28-1.el6 .x86_64.rpm)
* MySQL Shared (MySQL-shared-5.5.28-1.el6.x86_64.rpm)
* MySQL Shared Compat (MySQL-shared-compat-5.5.28-1.el6.x86_64.rpm)

But i didn't remove akonadi or install qt4 and i've an error for akonadi ... has missing requires of qt4-mysql.

i've installed qt-mysql-4 :

#yum install qt-mysql-4.6.2-24.el6.x86_64

But i have the same error package zenoss requires libmysqlclient.so.18

It seems akondi insists on having a certain older version of MySQL. Is this package so important to you ?

i 'll try to remove akonadi and the packet qt4-mysql for akonadi but i think the problem come from libmysqlclient.so.18 and i've done :
#yum provides "*limysqlclient.so.18*"
and i have still this error :

Just to make sure I understand your case, three questions for you. First, did you properly remove the existant (if any) version of MySQL from your system and second, how exactly did you install the new MySQL 5.5 rpms (via rpm or using yum) ? And last one, what does "yum list mysql*" (the installed packages section) shows on your system ?
