I had the same problem with the Zenoss 4.2 appliance monitoring a Solaris server.

Solaris 10 10/08 s10s_u6wos_07b SPARC / Sendmail 8.13.8+Sun/8.13.8

I used the 'MAIL FROM zenoss' to successfully suppress the sendmail messages:
