We have Zenoss 4.2.x and are retrieving the xx.xx.xx as well as the interface aliases for the Enterasys hardware.  Took me a while to figure out how...  wasn't really intuitive. 

Under the Modeler Plugins for your device class:
zenoss.snmp.InterfaceMap
zenoss.snmp.InterfaceAliasMap
zenoss.snmp.NewDeviceMap
zenoss.snmp.PhysicalEntityMap
zenoss.snmp.DeviceMap
zenoss.snmp.RouteMap
zenoss.snmp.IpServiceMap

Those, only those, and in that order.  Any other order looses both the ge.xx.xx and the alias as the port description..

Now, if I could only figure out how to make a Zenpack  I'd love to add graphs of the temp, etc...
