Hi all,

When I try and use zenrestore I always get the following error within a few seconds after launching the zenrestore;

[***@localhost root]$ zenrestore --file=/opt/zenoss/backup_111010_180001.tgz
tar: Cannot save working directory
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

gzip: stdout: Broken pipe

If i manually extract the backup file and then start a zenrestore with the --dir option it sometimes works but most of the time I get a similar error.

Im using the vmware image from zenoss 3.1 for both the backup and restore.
The zenbackup is done with the --file= and  --save-mysql-access options.

Does nobody had this problem?
I've tried to run a zenbackup en restore on an clean vmware image but I get the same error. So I must be doing something wrong or the zenrestore just doens't work in 3.1?

Sort of implied here:

I just backup the entire directory and do a mysql dump. Then for a restore I reverse the process.

Dave:

Try to avoid zenbackup/zenrestore if possible.

As jmp242 says, a backup of the directory and a mysqldump really work far better.

Additionally, before backing up the directory, do a zeopack to reduce the size of your Data.fs. Removal of the Data.fs.old file will also dramatically reduce the size of the backup.

Best,

Ok will try this. What options do I use to run the mysqldump and how do I restore this mysqldump?
