I am a new user of Zenoss.

I am monitoring a Cisco 2921 and would like to be notified when a particular interface goes down.  We are running 3.2.1.

Int g0/0 - inside interface to LAN for which I am monitoring with Zenoss SNMP.
Int s0/0/0:1 - MPLS
Int g0/1 - backup VPN Internet.

So, when the MPLS circuit goes down, the router brings up a backup VPN.  Zenoss will notify me if it loses connectivity to int g0/0, but it will come back up when the tunnel is built.

What I really need to know is when int s0/0/0:1 goes into a down state.  During my testing, even though S0/0/0:1 is down, Zenoss still shows the interface green.  Any ideas on how I can get Zenoss to notify me when an interface goes down?  As you can see below, int S0/0/0:1 is down, but still shows a green check.

Thanks for the assist.

You may use SNMP traps or syslog messages that the device will send when interface status changes. The green button is the result of interface polling which is done every 5 minutes so don't count on it.
I don't know what you are trying to achieve but be aware that the interface status as given by the two methods, is a L2 status. This means that your router is reporting an interface down when it no longer receives keepalives from the adjacent L2 device. So even if your MPLS connectivity is down, router sees the interface up because it receives keepalive packets from the switch or router port where that interface is being connected and you might not be notified about switching to the backup link. Try monitoring a remote IP interface or an IP route for that purpose.
